Privacy Policy
I am required by law to have a privacy policy regarding my handling of your personal information. This is set out below. In summary, the information that I collect is needed in order to communicate with you, provide my services, render invoices, maintain my business records and generally run my business effectively.
Some sections of this website invite you to contact me. If you do so I will collect and normally retain your personal information (such as your name, email address, telephone number and postal address) and other details supplied by you. When you become a client and during the course of providing services to you, I may collect further personal information that you supply to me.
I will only use your personal information if I consider it is lawful and fair to do so because: (i) you have given your consent to me using your information; (ii) it is necessary in order to respond to your enquiries; (iii) it is necessary in order to enter into or fulfil a contract for services with you; (iv) it is necessary for internal record keeping or for rendering an invoice to you; or (v) it is needed to comply with the law.
I will not disclose any personal information you provide to me to any third parties unconnected to us except: (i) where you have given your consent; (ii) in order to enforce any contract between us; (iii) as part of a sale or transfer of my business or business assets (on the basis that you will be notified in advance); (iv) to protect my rights, property and safety; or (v) if required by law.
I am committed to ensuring that your personal information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure I have in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial measures to safeguard and secure the information I collect about you. Electronic data is held in a secure manner using password protection, firewalls and anti-malware software.
If you contact me via my website or by email you will be transmitting information via the internet. My services are also provided on the basis that we communicate with each other using non encrypted email over the internet. The transmission of information by these methods is not secure and any transmission is at your own risk. By accepting communications by email you are accepting that you have considered the risks and you accept the waiver that I will not be liable for any breach of security or confidentiality arising out of the use of the internet and email.
I will retain your information for as long as required by law or to protect my legal rights and claims. This includes details of invoicing, which I am required to retain for tax purposes. My default retention period for personal information is seven years from the conclusion of your instructions. If I consider it necessary, this period can be extended or reduced.
I use cloud services (including email, web hosting and accounting) that are provided by various suppliers to UK based users. I have no control over where the servers of those suppliers are based. It is therefore possible that the personal information you provide will be transferred and stored outside of the EEA for the purposes of carrying out my services, administration and other functions necessary to carrying out my services to you.
Under certain circumstances, by law you have the right to: (i) request access to your personal information, to receive a copy of the personal information I hold about you and to check that I am lawfully processing it; (ii) ask me to correct any information that I hold about you which is incorrect, incomplete or inaccurate; (iii) ask me to erase your personal information from my records where there is no reason for me continuing to hold it; (iv) object to me using your personal information to further my legitimate interests (or those of a third party) or where I am using your personal information for direct marketing purposes; (v) ask me to restrict or suspend the use of your personal information, for example, if you want me to establish its accuracy or my reasons for using it; (vi) ask me to transfer your personal information to another person or organisation.
It is important that the personal information I hold is accurate and up to date. If you would like to review, verify, correct or request erasure of your personal information, object to the processing of your personal data or request that I transfer a copy of your personal information to another party, please contact me.
I may revise these terms at any time by amending this page.
